A Case for Involuntary Servitude

05.28.08 (2:24 pm)   [edit]

Recently a vote was taken to give veterans tuition grants after serving three years honorably in the military. John McCain thought that was to much to give them. John McCain went to the Naval Academy for four years received tuition room, board and pay just on the promise that he would serve four years in the military and he thinks that giving veterans who have served honorably free tuition is to much to pay. He thinks that many will not reenlist just because they receive the tuition for time served. He doesn't say how much time they should have to serve, just think after three years most have done at least 15 months in Iraq or Afghanistan risking life and limb.

Is this an underhanded attempt at an unofficial draft or a blatant attempt for involuntary servitude with the risk factor that you won't be alive to receive the tuition or that you will be so physically or mentally maimed that you won't be able to take advantage of the tuition grant. I believe that the risk of three years is worth the reward.

,Reply to: barnabus1,
Reply to: barnabus1 What have you been smoking Obama never said anything of the thing you mentioned. what do you mean negotiate from a point of weakness what did calling North Korea and Iran Axis of evil get us nothing but negotiation and submission don't they both still have nukes aren't we negotiating from back channel, didn't we give North Korea the oil and food they wanted on the promise that they would stop their nuclear program and as far as we know they are still producing nuclear weapons without our verifacation. If we are so strong why are we begging Iran to stop assisting the shiites in Iraq. If all you ever do is all you've ever done then all you'll ever get is all you ever got which is an abysmal failing foreign policy exhibited by George Bush. Weakness is being cowardly to confront evil face to face.

Reply to: barnabus1 What is so scary about ridding the world of Nuclear fissionable material since it only has the capacity to destroy and you can't tell me that it provides an impervious defense for the U.S. Since the Viet Congs and the North Vietnamese defeated us without nuclear weapons supersonic bombers or any other hi tech equipment.Remember the 19 Muslims who invaded our country and killed over three thousand Americans with only box cutters as weapons. And with all our superior technology why can't we defeat the rag tag bunch in Iraq and Afghanistan, just think they are not even organized and they have killed over 4000 thousand of our military personnel and we are stilled no closer to victory than we were on the first day we invaded. Just think of the number of bridges we could under gird, the number of people we could supplement health care for, the research we could do for alternative fuel, the number of educational grants we could give to promising student who would be more of an asset to the U.S. than the big nuclear arsenal that only provides us with a feeling of false confidence. We should take his advice and use our military for what it was intended for to protect and serve America not being cannon fodder for spreading democracy. Remember this! all nuclear fissionable material can be used for is to destroy personnel, property and poison the environment as evidence I offer Nagi Saki, Hiroshima, Three Mile Island and Chernobyl.
