What Justice?
03.10.08 (5:13 pm) [edit]On sixty minutes on Sunday was the saddest case of injustice done to an individual by the justice system that I ever witness. An individual has spent 26 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit and two members of the legal system knew that he was not guilty but yet could not testify to is innocents simply because of a lawyer client privilege that he had with the known guilty culprit. Now they have known he was innocent but couldn't do anything until the guilty suspect gave them the permission to tell the truth on his dying bed.
Now after 26 years they come forth with an affidavit declaring his innocent only because the suspect gave them permission to tell his story. I know that a defense lawyer is supposed to defend his client but at what expense. Doesn't the word truth and justice mean anything unless you can afford to pay for it. So this innocent man has wasted away 26 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit simply because of loyalty of two hired attorneys to a guilty suspect. What Justice.
