How much is a Human life worth

01.31.08 (1:19 pm)   [edit]

I am confused about how politicians view health care in America, They keep talking about market forces regulating health care but anybody with a pre existing health problem regardless of how old or young can tell you that the market  forces are not always just. I have a friend who was born with a heart murmur and is now 57 years old who simply because of his heart condition cannot find any health care insurance company that will even offer him health care let alone quoting a possible premium because  of this problem. another case is a friend who has an autoimmune  disease history in the family and cannot provide health care insurance for his self due to the exorbitant price of the premium. So when these two people get sick they crowd our emergency room and the citizens  pay for their coverage anyway. So pay now or pay later but eventually society ends up paying the cost. California presented a plan backed by the Governor and several members of the legislator whereby everybody would be required to have health insurance and those who couldn't afford private care would pay into a pool that covered them. It was voted down by the on the premise that it cost to much have we as a society reach the point of survival of the fittest and the rest be damned

A Cabal of Evil Men

01.16.08 (11:33 am)   [edit]

The supreme court of the United States just made a majority decision that legalize robbery as long as you don't use a gun while perpetrating the crime. You can lie, steal, cheat and embezzle from poor investors without suffering any consequences as long as their is a corporation behind your name. The mission of the supreme court is to interpret the laws, so how they can justify stealing from hard working investors is a mystery to me,they passed by a 5 to 3 decisions that investors cannot sue investment companies irregardless of how culpable they are misusing your money. I realize that investing poses an inherent risk but thievery should not be subsidized by an arm of the federal government. So now when you hear the republicans referring to let the market decide the issue because of it's invisible hand. Now we know that the invisible hand is the supreme court  and it is hell bent on protecting corporation. Remember the golden rule now we know that those who have the gold makes the rule.

A Lawless Society With Low Taxes

01.15.08 (8:19 pm)   [edit]

The California Govenor and state Government has given us a vision of how to solve financial problems without raising taxes. As a citizen of this country could you ever envision the day when letting prisioners out of jail trump raising taxes. In california we suffering a 14 billion dollar short fall in revenue for the year of 2007. The solution by the powers that be is not to imprision drug dealers, burglars, car thiefs, drunk drivers irregardless of the damage they caused except death, lay off life guards at beaches and terminate 50% of parole officers. Just to mentenion a tax hike caused and apoplexy of the government. Who will these non abiding law breakers affect most?. The middle class, lower middle class and the poor because these are the communities affected most by these people. Remember the people who made this decision have body guards and security people around them. It's really a sad situation for the state to be in but we hold to the old republican adage, low taxes trumph a law abiding society.

War What is it Good for

01.09.08 (10:56 pm)   [edit]

When we look at the lives and treasure that has been expended during the past 6 years for this selected Iraq  war, Just in money alone we have spent over a half trillion dollars. How can we justify that for a war that is never going to establish a democratic country? and end up being a Muslim caliphate. For an an equal amount of money spent on the needs of the U.S. we could have had  an additional half million people with health care, twenty six thousand more public safety personnel on the streets, over two hundred thousand scholarship could have been provided to  college students, a hundred elementary schools and twenty thousand port inspectors. We have spent all this money  for an unjust and unnecessary war at the expense of important things needed in America and we are still not safe. The Bible says that charity begins at home and then spread abroad, lets insure that our next president concentrate on Americas hard earned tax dollars be spent on the things that America needs.

Disservice By the News Media

01.09.08 (10:50 am)   [edit]

The T.V. and print media is doing a disservice to the American public by not printing or discussing meaningful points to the public. What does any of these candidates stand for in what is needed by the American public. All we heard during the New Hampshire primary was what section of the population they were appealing to not their position on any of the issues such as taxes, health care, energy or global warming. When as an electorate are we going to learn that America is a melting pot of different races and ethnic people and what we should be concerned about is,solving the problem that adversely affects us all, not an allegiance to a particular  section of the population. My concern is that we listen to what they say rather than their claim to be conservative or liberal because some times the labels don't hold up, is George Bush really a conservative,no! the government has grown more under him than any other president. Was Bill Clinton really as liberal as he was made out to be, he balanced the budget. Remember America the devil is in the details
