What do you do with used veterans

10.31.07 (3:20 pm)   [edit]

The alarming news that there are eight million veterans who have served honorably in the military are without any form of health care insurance is deplorable. Many who suffered ptsd and many other ailments after completing their military service is unable to get medical insurance due to pre conditions set by the insurance companies and the exorbitant premiums required. Many who presented no mental or psychological symptoms before or while serving, after being exposed to combat ptsd and panic attack symptoms appeared and now the victims are being told by the VA that their conditions existed prior to service. So much for supporting the troops, but I guess that's to be expected since they won't allow the flag draped coffins of those who gave their life to viewed when returning to the U.S.

An Excellent time for Leadership

10.25.07 (11:09 am)   [edit]

The President of the U.S. is running around talking about how dangerous it would be if Iran got nuclear weapons, I think he meant because he wasn't the approval authority. He has permitted two unstable countries to acquire nuclear technology and weapons, India and Pakistan countries that democracy is only a facade. Their governments practice torture and human rights abuse and we still approved their authority to  have these dangerous weapons neither are members of the non nuclear proliferation treaty. If we are so concerned about rogue countries having nuclear weapons, Why don't we do as Ronald Regan suggested destroy all these weapons since they are only good for the destruction of humanity. Remember the devastation of Japan and the long residual effects it had on people after we dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If we really desire to be leaders in the world why don't we propose abolishing all nuclear materials except that which is used in medicine and energy.

A Tenuous Relationship

10.19.07 (12:45 pm)   [edit]

When lying and denying determines the strength of your relationship it's very tenuous at best. It is true that over one million Armenians were kill in a genocide over 90 years ago. The Americans of Armenian decent has been requesting that this unpleasant event be acknowledge since the Eisenhower Administration, the usual reply has been it's not the right time. The issue has resurfaced under the Bush administration and again the reply it's not the right time because it may cause tension between Turkey and the U.S. Over a million Armenians, men, women, boys and girls were needlessly slaughtered. Have we become like the people that Jack Nichols were talking about in the movie a few good men when he said you can't handle the truth. We still refuse to acknowledge how bad slavery was and the vestige of it that still remain in our education, economic, judicial and employment systems. I shouldn't be surprised because during world war II we locked up a whole nation of Japanese American citizens and look how long it took us to acknowledge that atrocity. What happened to truth justice and the American way? the Armenians are not asking for reparations of any kind only that their suffering be acknowledge while the whole world sat idly by.

A War Mongering President

10.17.07 (10:19 pm)   [edit]

The president's press conference was a political disaster, he seems to have a thirst for war. If you listened to him careful you would think that war is the only way to deal with Iran. He keeps talking about Ahmadinejad wants to destroy Israel, doesn't every Arab leader in the Muslim world want to destroy Israel. Has he forgotten about all the previous wars fought between Israel and the Arab world and Israel still survives in better shape than the Arabs. Doesn't President Bush realize that Ahmadinejad is the president of Iran but he does not have absolute power that is held by the Mullahs who runs the country under sharia law. For a president who has never been in a combat situation he sure is quick to commit other people to war. He talks about spreading democracy but when he had the chance  to actively participate in spreading democracy in vietnam he was a no show.

Defaming the Helpless

10.17.07 (12:24 am)   [edit]

The Schip a health care program for children whose parents are unable to afford health care insurance is under attack by President Bush who threatened to veto the program. The pro Schip people used a young boy who has many medical problems due to a previous automobile accident to campaign for the program. The republicans attacked the little boy and his family with many lies about their financial conditions, two people making only 45,0000 dollars combined with two children cannot afford health care insurance premiums without some assistance. rather than debating the program on it's merits they defamed the family. There are 9 million children in these united states without any form of health care except for emergency room service. The tax payers of America picks up that bill. As for socialized medicine the only two developed countries in the world that does not provide it for it's citizen is the United States and South Africa. Every country that provides health care for it's citizens has a longer life expectancy and its citizens are healtheir than the U.S. because they practice preventive medicine rather than waiting until you are knocking death door before you are taken care of. In the past five years 85% of all bankruptcy filing has been because people are overwhelmed by large medical bills. So let's debate the merits of any proposed health care bill rather than voting no because it looks like Canada's or Brittan's

No longer a few good men

10.12.07 (12:32 am)   [edit]

In today's news paper, written in small print was the fact that the Army has started recruiting people with criminal records, a few months ago they lowered the standards just to meet the recruitment goals. It looks like a twenty thousand dollar bonus  for signing up is not doing the job. But has anybody stop to think just how convoluted their thinking is?. They put gays out of the military in a heart beat but recruit car thieves, marijuana smokers and petty thieves, you tell me who represents the greatest threat to security. Next I wouldn't be surprised if they offered murders on death row a commuted sentence if they volunteered to go to Iraq.
