General Motor's Health Care Plan
09.28.07 (10:35 am) [edit]Prior to the agreement between the U.A.W and General Motors there were 47 million working Americans without health insurance. General Motors just added another 73 thousand to that number by dumping their health insurance for all workers. The railroad and airline companies dumped theirs long ago and ford and Chrysler are waiting in the wings. If health insurance is to expensive for big industrial giants like ford, Chrysler and General Motors, because it makes their price non competitive with foreign auto manufacturers how do they expect the individual citizen to pay for it without a substantial increase in salary. The question is how does foreign companies compete, don't they have the same expenses that American companies have. If their government provide health insurance for all citizens that makes the different in the cost of an automobile why doesn't America do the same or we are going to be like the rest of the third world countries, consumed by disease and other physical maladies. I don't think the issue is Hillary's care any more because General Motors have assumed that responsibility.
The Roasting of Ahmadinejad
09.25.07 (10:38 pm) [edit]The President of Iran received a rude awakening from the hands of the president of Columbia university. I am ambivalent about the whole procedure. Why would you invite a dignitary to your house just to excoriate him and tell what a scoundrel he is, I believe it sets a bad example for young college student in how you treat dignitaries regardless of how you feel about them. Mr Ahmadinejad was elected by the people of Iran and I presume it was done legally since the mullahs was not needed to decide who won. It proves that the number of degrees and your position in the world of academia does not prevent you from being rude, crude and socially unacceptable.
Deifying Generals
09.24.07 (11:48 am) [edit]When Senator Clinton questioned general petraeus on the facts that he testified to, to the senate, many congressmen and senator acted as if she was blaspheming God. All she was doing was trying to ascertain the true facts of the war and not accepting the cherry picking of success that the general was giving to the senate. When move-on. org stated that he was betraying us by presenting a false sense of success the senate passed a special resolution dis-avowing the statement as an attack on the General's character. However no one questions the fact that we have been in Iraq four years with no end in sight, depleting our military equipment and personnel spending a hundred twenty billion a year and we don't know what victory would look like if we achieved it. The President and John McCain talks about the disaster that would occur if we leave, but they never say what the disaster would be. If it would be two religious fanatics groups annihilating one another why should Americans be dieing for that since the results will be a caliphate rather than a democratic form of government. I bet when General Petraeus retires he'll follow the same path that General Sanchez,Abizaid, Batiste, Eaton and Casey did in writing a book on what a fiasco the Iraq was is.
Four Stars Pimped by the President
09.20.07 (11:35 pm) [edit]President Bush made a big to do about moveon.org caricature of General Petraeus being called betray us. If you remember doing his presentation to the congress every senator and congress person acknowledged his outstanding service to this country. But the senate passed a resolution to detest what moveon dot org said. what happened to free speech. The president said to question General Petraeus and the facts he presented was like betraying the military. What does he say about the military personnel who are in Iraq and according to the military news 64 percent are against the strategy and policies of how this war is being fought. General Petraeus is a fine man and leader but President Bush politicized the General and the military by putting the General out there to do what he should be doing. I gather from this is when the pimp is not believable the product he puts on stage is not either.
False Connection
09.19.07 (1:22 pm) [edit]General Petraeus and ambassador Crocker gave us a pretty good assessment of the conditions in Iraq, then came president Bush with his many false connections of why we are in Iraq. I wonder sometimes does he believe what he's saying or is lying a pathology with him. His first statement was that we are in Iraq because Al qaeda is there, how can he make a statement like that when we were there first and they followed us there. Its better to fight them there than to fight them here, what a cynical and condesending remark, is he saying that an Iraqi life is less important than an American life, is that the reason we invaded Iraq even though the Iraqi's had no ill feeling toward Al Qaeda. The invasion was not for all, well the cat's out of the bag now, Milton Freedman the former head of the federal reserve stated it was for oil and now we find out that the Hunt oil company is now negotiating with the Kurds regarding drilling rights and permits. Osama Bin Ladin is now obsolete, how can the greatest mass murder in American history become obsolete without being caught or dead. We're safer now, according to what. We're kicking ass, obviously not enough.
The Surge apparently didn't Work
09.12.07 (11:33 am) [edit]With all the military superiority of fighter aircraft, bombers, helicopter gunship, tanks, mortars, machine guns and 160,000 highly trained military personnel can't defeat a bunch of unorganized renegades terrorist in over four years demonstrates the need for a change in strategy. How can you continually do the same thing and expect different results?. This occupation is putting a terrible strain on military equipment, personnel and budget. Most combat trained personnel have been to Iraq at least three times, their tours have been extended from 12 to 15 months. What happened when our personnel resources becomes depleted. We missed our quota for recruiting three months consecutively, it only improved when we begin offering $20,000.00 bonuses to recruit if they sign up for two years or more service. That's really getting mercenary in our attempt to fight this war. Two reports by independent agencies gave dismal prognosis on the future of Iraq. President Bush said When the Iraqi's stand up we will stand down, the potential for them standing on their on is not promising in the near future. Nobody talks about the draft and if our military personnel resources doesn't improve in the near future, this war will end by attrition on our behalf. Is that anyway to support our troops.
Petraeus Report Waiting in the win
09.06.07 (11:02 am) [edit]Every one is anxiously awaiting General Petraeus report on the conditions in Iraq and the progress that has been made to determine if we should go or stay and the prognosis for improvement if we stay. We must remember that General Petraeus was hired and promoted to a four star General by the president who is responsible for the report. In Georgia we have an old saying that a dog won't bite the hand that feeds him irregardless of how bad he is and a general has to be a pretty bad dog just from the position he occupies and what it took to get him there. So we can expect an almost glowing report on the progress in Iraq even though two independent reports by the G.A.O and the commission of retired officers association paints a pretty dismal picture of the progress made and the prognosis for future progress. The media gives very little attention to these two reports. I'm betting that General Petraeus will be like all the other Generals who have been in charge in Iraq, after he retires he'll write a scathing report about the conditions in Iraq and why it can't be fixed.
Now for the rest of the story
09.05.07 (12:07 pm) [edit]Remember when we invaded Iraq looking for WMDS and none were found and we stated it wasn't really any body's fault because every one thought that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. The general consensus was that it was a serious failure in our intelligence gathering and that Bill Clinton was the culprit. Then we changed our objective to establishing a democracy even though the Iraqi's couldn't spell democracy, after that futile effort due to all the sectarian violence,we changed again to establishing a stable government with the puppets we put in charge. There is an old saying that you can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time. The Kurds and Sunnis have boycotted the parliament due to the way the U.S. wrote the oil sharing revenue plan because it was written with the U.S. intention of privatizing the oil sector so that it could get it's hand on Iraqi oil. A group of 419 engineers, academic expert and Iraq oil experts stated that the U.S. placed people in the Iraqi government specifically to implement the demands of the American government. I have always believed that the ultimate aim of the Bush administration in invading Iraq was for the oil reserves.
Be aware of what you hear
09.04.07 (12:04 pm) [edit]President Bush made a big public announcement the other day about how the government was going to help those two million people who are having trouble paying their mortgage, especially those victimized by the sub-prime lenders. If you listened carefully you'll find that the devil is in the detail. Out of two million people only eighty thousand are going to get any assistance in restructuring their mortgage, that is less than five percent of the people who need assistance. The other kicker is that they must have excellent credit. How can you have excellent credit if you are two months behind in your mortgage payment?. So to those who was thinking that help is on the way don't hold your breath because you will not probably be a recipient of his graciousness. Could it be because our great savior General Patreus gave the whole town of Dora Iraq twenty five hundred dollars each to start a business yet the whole city of New Orleans is still desperately trying to get financial assistance to rebuild their city. I was always taught that charity began at home then spreads abroad, I guess we can put that old adage to bed because it certainly does not hold true today.
